How you will help us grow…. 

As Research Manager, you will play an important role in delivering a calendar of research-based content designed to support Econsultancy’s subscribers achieve excellence in digital marketing and ecommerce. You will produce and manage in-depth, insightful and appealing reports, analysis and presentations about trends and best practices in digital marketing and ecommerce to keep our subscribers up-to-date in a fast-moving industry.  You will work closely with the Research Director, the Research team and freelancers to deliver a weekly content schedule of insightful, useful and high value best practice and trend reports. You will be self-motivated and capable of hands-on problem solving, with excellent written communication and research skills and with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

A day in the life of….

  • Support Research Director with the following:
    • Ensuring Econsultancy’s research reports provide market-leading insight and guidance to enable our subscribers to excel
    • The management and smooth running of the research calendar and publishing schedule
    • Briefing and managing freelancers including financial and legal administration
    • Helping identify quality freelance writers and relevant interviewees for out reports
    • Assisting expert freelance writers with developing new best practice materials and trends reports, ensuring that they are aligned to agreed objectives, by reviewing, evaluating and editing proposals, research and content (either independently or collaboratively with the team) and providing timely feedback
    • Using your subject matter expertise to provide insightful answers to internal and external queries
    • Helping team members as and when needed
  • Play a key role in the creation of content and insights for our subscribers during the course of the year:
    • Manage Econsultancy’s case study library and Internet Statistics Compendium products, including offshore and freelance resources
    • Take responsibility for delivering several key reports per year from conception to completion (including writing the reports) on key topics of interest to our subscribers
    • Contribute ideas for our content calendar
  • Conduct primary market research to support the origination of research content:
    • Design research (discussion guides, questionnaires)
    • Conduct interviews and surveys with marketing and ecommerce experts
    • Monitor and manage response and completion rates
    • Collect, clean, analyse and interpret survey data to turn it into interesting insights for our reports
    • Collect/transcribe, clean, analyse and interpret information and data to turn them into interesting insights for our reports and presentations

 

What we need you to have….

Essential 

  • Knowledge of and passion for digital marketing and ecommerce to help maintain and enhance Econsultancy’s position as a renowned thought leader
  • Ability to identify valuable insights and key trends in a fast-moving industry.
  • Ability to manage projects from conception of research and methodology to delivery and amplification of content
  • Bachelor’s degree or above, ideally in a subject relevant to this role (e.g. marketing, business)
  • First-class written English
  • Strong writing, editorial and analytical skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Experience conducting research, ideally both quantitative and qualitative
  • Team player who enjoys working collaboratively – working well with other teams (e.g. sales, blog, product and marketing) as well as other research team members to help ensure that the research team’s performance is excellent and meets subscribers’ needs
  • Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Proactive, self-starter, capable of creating and managing own workload
  • Very well organised and able to meet deadlines

Preferred experience

  • Using Alchemer (previously Surveygizmo) or other survey management platforms
  • Interviewing professionals about complex topics and extracting interesting insights
  • Managing people (e.g. freelancers)
  • Presenting
  • Using a CMS
